The Choice is Clear for Colorado Voters When it Comes to Fighting Climate Change
Governor Jared Polis sat down with Adam Met –multiplatinum musician, bassist of indie pop group AJR and founder of two national sustainability advocacy organizations, Planet Reimagined and Sustainable Partners Inc. – to discuss Colorado’s efforts to transition to a cleaner, safer, and more affordable energy economy.
During their discussion, the two agreed that “climate is on the ballot” this November. Watch highlights of their discussion HERE, where Met recognized the Governor’s leadership, which has put Colorado on a path toward 100% renewable energy production by 2040 with an aggressive climate action plan and roadmap.
“They are real, incredible commitments to make sure you’re hitting full renewables by 2040, and you’re already going to be at 80% by 2030,” said Met, acknowledging the commitments the Governor secured from utilities operating more than 99 percent of Colorado’s fossil fuel generation to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 80 percent or more by 2030.
When it comes to fighting climate change, the choice for Colorado voters is clear this fall. Gov. Polis has delivered critical protections to Colorado’s air, water and public lands while advancing our clean energy economy and improving the health of our communities. His opponent, meanwhile, is only focused on the narrow goal of expanding oil and gas production.
Gov. Polis will continue to fight for Colorado’s future by investing in, clean, renewable energy sources to make Colorado a national leader in clean energy; protect our public health by electrifying Colorado’s transportation sector and empowering state regulators to crack down on frequent polluters; and implementing a statewide program that will provide more recycling services to homes, business, and public spaces across the state.
The Governor has received support from climate leaders across the state, including Colorado’s premier environmental advocacy organization, Conservation Colorado.
“We are excited to offer Gov. Polis and Lt. Gov. Primavera our enthusiastic support as they seek reelection,” said Kelly Nordini, CEO of Conservation Colorado. “Coloradans expect conservation leadership from their elected officials, and since 2018 Governor Polis has been building Colorado’s progress to protect our climate, air, lands, water, and communities. We look forward to working together and continuing that progress in the Governor’s second term.”
