Deputy Communications Director

Reports To: Communications Director
Salary Range: $5,000 – $6,000/month

Polis for Colorado is seeking a full‐time Deputy Communications Director for the 2022 re-election campaign for Governor Jared Polis. This position requires an experienced and highly motivated communicator with strong writing and strategic messaging skills. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for ensuring that the objectives of the campaign and candidate are communicated efficiently and effectively through communications platforms and surrogates. 

Responsibilities
  • Contributing to the weekly communications and media strategy, including identifying opportunities to build on campaign and candidate’s strengths;
  • Working closely with Communications Director on rapid response and debate communications;
  • Prepping and staffing the candidate in interviews, events and debate prep;
  • Assisting with briefing materials, including speechwriting
  • Writing and copy-editing communications materials including press releases, media advisories, talking points, media statements, public responses, etc.; 
  • Contributing strategic and creative ideas to the campaign in partnership with the political and digital teams;
  • Working with research and political to support development of earned, paid and owned campaign communications materials;
  • Serving as an on-the-record spokesperson for the campaign, when needed;
  • Traveling with and staffing the Governor and Lt. Gov. during state tours and other events, when needed; and
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Excellent writing and messaging skills;
  • Experience leading communications projects;
  • Results focused and organized;
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings;
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects;
  • At least one cycle of experience in electoral, civic engagement or political campaigns and at least one cycle of Colorado experience is preferred;
  • On-the-record experience;
  • Spanish-speaking preferred;
  • Must have reliable access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license; and
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Basic computer literacy, database skills, and access to a reliable portable computer.

Political Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Outreach and Political Partnerships
Salary Range: $4,000-$4,500/month

Polis for Colorado is seeking a full‐time Political Coordinator for the 2022 re-election campaign for
Governor Jared Polis. This position requires a highly motivated individual with strong writing and
organizational skills. The individual selected for this position will help the campaign ensure that the
objectives of the political team are implemented and planned in a motivating way.

Responsibilities
  • Building for events across the state for the campaign
  • Work across teams to engage with political and community leaders
  • Support storytelling efforts, working with surrogates, validators, and other volunteers
  • Maintain detailed tracking documents for engaging political and grasstop leaders across Colorado
  • Staffing campaign events, including tabling and other visibility events on behalf of the campaign
  • Write event memos for the Governor, Lt. Governor, and other principals
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • At least one cycle of experience in electoral, civic engagement, or political campaigns
  • Colorado experience is preferred
  • Experience working across departments or teams within an organization
  • Independent and organized is able to drive projects and programs to completion in a fast-paced metrics-driven environment
  • Ability to work within a coalition of diverse organizations and partners and experience working in diverse communities and with grassroots organizations
  • Results and details focused and organized
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings

Events & Finance Manager

Reports To: Finance Consultant
Salary Range: $5,000-$6,000/month

The Events & Finance Manager is responsible for supporting all fundraising for the campaign and related entities. This includes donor prospecting and maintenance, event planning and execution, and call time prep and staffing. This position is responsible for assisting the finance consultant in reaching relevant finance goals.

Supervisory opportunities with interns and staff are possible. This position will report to the Finance Consultant.

Job Functions
  • Work with finance consultant to execute finance plan for hitting fundraising goals Support call time, events, and meetings with the Governor and other principles to hit fundraising goals and deadlines;
  • Collaborate with relevant finance consultants and campaign committees;
  • Acts as the representative for the Governor within the donor community, maintain good relationships with donors and other outside ally organizations;
  • Manage and track fundraising metrics to ensure the campaign is on target to hit goals;
  • Track day-to-day fundraising and work with compliance staff to support needs on legal reporting;
  • Facilitate donor correspondence and follow up on fundraising pledges;
  • Expand donor pool in Colorado and nationally through donor research as assigned by finance consultant and candidate;
  • Prep and staff call time as needed;
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the Governor, staff, donors, volunteers, and voters;
  • Participates in weekly campaign check-in calls;
  • Able to plan and execute finance events with high profile individuals;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least one cycle of experience in electoral, civic engagement or political campaign
    fundraising;
  • Experience as a project manager or on a campaign finance team;
  • Experience working across departments or teams within an organization;
  • Hyper organized and has experience setting up processes;
  • Results focused and organized with strong attention to detail and process;
  • Excellent writing and communication skills;
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure while handling multiple projects;
  • Ability to work independently and in team settings;
  • Accepts performance-based criticism and direction;
  • Works a flexible schedule including long hours, nights and weekends;
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, basic computer literacy, database skills, and access to a
    reliable portable computer;
  • Must have reliable access to a vehicle, be comfortable with driving throughout Colorado, and
    have a valid driver’s license.
