If you’ve ever stopped by Jared Polis’s Campaign Headquarters, you might have seen me managing the front desk or replenishing the candy jar.
I’ve been volunteering for Democratic campaigns in Colorado since 2002. I can’t think of a better way to make a difference and fight for the kind of future I want to see for my kids and grandkids.
I’ve done just about everything you can do on a campaign, but this is the first time I’ve ever sent an email for one — and I’m doing it today because this is an issue near and dear to my heart: Jared’s “Dignified Retirement” plan for Colorado’s seniors.
Jared understands that here in Colorado, we take care of each other — and Colorado has one of the fastest growing populations of older adults in the country.
As governor, Jared will make the needs of older citizens a priority, like the importance of everyday issues such as convenient transportation and affordable housing for the overall quality of life in our later years.
He’s fought for older adults in Congress by helping pass the Affordable Care Act, which expanded Medicaid, lowered the cost for prescription drugs, and increased preventive services for older adults. He’s also rejected efforts to reduce funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which provides millions of low-income older adults with access to food. And he has even more exciting plans to help seniors here in Colorado!
