  • What is the Colorado caucus?

The caucus is the first step in the Democratic nominating process. During the caucus, neighbors gather at their local precinct to declare their support for a Gubernatorial candidate. The caucus helps decide which candidates’ names appear on the ballot.


  • When is the Colorado caucus?

The Colorado caucus is on Tuesday, March 6th, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.


  • Why should I caucus?

To make sure Jared gets on the ballot to be elected as Colorado’s next governor!


  • What happens when I show up to caucus on Tuesday March 6th?

Make sure to be in line at your caucus no later than 7:00 p.m., but we suggest to show up at 6:30 p.m. just to be safe! At your caucus, you will elect precinct leaders, vote on a county platform, and elect candidate delegates to attend the county and state assemblies.


  • What do I need to do before the caucus?

In order to participate in the Democratic caucus on March 6th, 2018 at 7:00 p.m., you must be affiliated as a Democrat by January 8th, 2018. You must be registered as a resident of your current precinct no later than February 5th, 2018.


  • Where can I register to vote?

You can register to vote or update your voter registration at the Colorado Secretary of State’s website at


  • What is the difference between a caucus and a primary?

At a caucus you vote by showing up in person and standing with other Jared Polis supporters. The candidate with the most supporters wins the most delegates in each precinct. At a primary, you cast your vote on a ballot.


  • Do I have to be at the caucus for my vote to count?

Yes. You must be at the caucus in person for your vote to count.


  • Where do I caucus?

Caucus locations are being finalized by your county Democratic Party, but most caucuses will be held at a library or school in your neighborhood — so don’t worry, you won’t have to travel far! Commit to Caucus for Jared, and your local organizer will be in touch with your caucus location when it is confirmed.


  • How do I caucus for Jared?

Caucusing is fun and easy! Commit to Caucus for Jared and your local organizer will make sure you have all of the information you need.


  • What if I can’t caucus, but I am a Polis for Colorado supporter?

  • How do I become a State Delegate for Jared?

The easiest way to become a State Delegate for Jared is to go to your Precinct Caucus on March 6th. To be a State Delegate, you must be elected at the Caucus as a County Delegate, attend your County Assembly (between March 7-March 31) and be elected to be a State Delegate to the State Convention on April 14th. At the March 6th Caucus, you will receive information on when and where your County Assembly is.


  • If I can’t go to the Caucus, can I still be a Delegate for Jared?

Each County Party has different rules for this, but most counties will allow you to be a Delegate if you write a letter of intent and/or have someone at the Caucus nominate you during the election of County Delegates. Therefore, please contact your county’s Democratic Party for their specific rules on this item.
